What’s the best reason to have a High School Musical reunion? For charity, of course! Sure, fans of the Disney show will undoubtedly be excited to see pictures of the cast’s private reunion party—but giving fans the chance to attend by donating to charity is kind of amazing.
The costars will have their reunion party in December, and fans that want to enter for the chance to win a spot simply have to donate as little as $3 to Monique Coleman’s GimmeMo Foundation. GimmeMo is a nonprofit web series that works to inspire and empower children and youth around the world. It was founded in 2010 by Coleman, and since then the organization has “produced two seasons of a philanthropic youth talk show addressing issues such as bullying, self-esteem and youth homelessness.”
The grand-prize winner will be chosen randomly and then sent to Los Angeles with a guest for the reunion—but that doesn’t mean fans can’t donate more than the requisite $3. Even those who don’t get to attend the reunion can still win a variety of other prizes, some even personalized from the cast members.
Will it really be a full reunion? Almost. Though Zac Efron won’t be able to make the reunion (but he is sending in a video to the grand-prize winner), Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Vanessa Hudgens, Olesya Rulin, Kaycee Stroh, Ashley Tisdale, and director Kenny Ortega will all be there—plus more.
It’s been seven years since the original High School Musical premiered and five since the final film, High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
